Ms. Ruth Lorraine Taylor, born to the late Lawyer T. Taylor and Everlean W. Artis on September 29, 1964, departed this earthly life on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her grandmothers Thelma Harris and Elnora Taylor; brothers Edward and Tony Taylor; sister-in-law Angela West Taylor; step-father James Eddie Artis, and aunts Eva Jackson, Ethel Murrell and Jessie Robinson.

Ruth received Christ at an early age at the Jerusalem Baptist Church. She was educated in the Sussex and Southampton County Public School systems. She enjoyed fishing, watching movies, her soap operas, playing spades, along with other games and puzzles. She loved seafood and was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles football team.

Ruth leaves to cherish her memories her devoted friend and life partner Carl A. Evans; brother Lorenzo; sisters Thelma, Gladys, and Eva; nieces and nephews Tinika, Calvin, Britney, Sedarius, Paul, Terrell, Dynasty and a host of other family, loving cousins, and dear friends, among them her "favorite cuz" Charlotte "Beedle" Jones.

A viewing will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.and the funeral will be held at noon on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 in the Elvin Vaughan Memorial Chapel, 1717 South Street in Franklin, Virginia 23851.
