Ms. Mary V. Banks, 72, was born on March 4, 1950, to the late Virginia Banks Hawkins in Nansemond County. She departed this earthly life on December 15, 2022.

Mary graduated Hayden High School and moved to New York where she attended Mercy College to study business administration. She later served in the United States Army and wore the rank of Sergeant with honor. Mary was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and was a member of the church choir.

A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2022 in First Baptist Church on 318 Hall Street in Franklin, Virginia.

At the request of the church, all attendees must wear a mask during the service.
