Jesse Thomas Evans, Sr. was born May 8, 1942, in Southampton County, VA, to the late William and Roxie Evans. He departed this earthly life in peace in his home on June 29, 2023, with his devoted son at his side. Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, son Tyrone Lamont, wife Catherine and sisters Evelyn and Emma.

Left to cherish Jesse's memory are his oldest son, Jesse Jr. who has been his devoted caregiver, his brother William H. Evans (Helen) and sister Jean Johnson, sister-in-law Frances Goodwyn, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023 at the Saint Luke AME Zion Methodist Church, 509 W 3rd Ave in Franklin, VA 23851. The interment will be held in the cemetery of Corinth Chapel Church, 7945 Corinth Chapel Rd in Suffolk, VA 23457.
